This project mainly focus monitoring the quality of groundwater in Penghu area, there were 28 site monitoring wells, 15 drinking and civil wells and 2 new installed monitoring wells were investigated in this project, also continue to inspect 14 gas stations and to check the data, soil gas and cathodic protection voltage. The main results from this project are as following: A. Groundwater monitoring 28 site monitoring wells, 15 drinking and civil wells and 1 new installed monitoring well were monitored in this project for 3 season. The items reached the “2st class groundwater pollution monitor standard” include total dissolved solid, hardness, chlorine salt, nitrate nitrogen, total organic carbon, lead, cadmium, iron and manganese. The items reached the “1st class groundwater pollution monitor standard” include total dissolved solid, chlorine salt, total organic carbon and manganese; hardness, chlorine salt, nitrate nitrogen and manganese were over the “drinking water standard”. The site reached the “1nd class groundwater pollution control standard” was Xing-Kan-Duan landfill site for phenol and nickel. The sites reached the “2nd class groundwater pollution control standard” include two gas station sites for phenol, chloromethane, benzene and nickel. B. The gas station inspection The inspections was carried monthly in this project for 14 gas stations; soil gas and cathodic protection voltage were monitored twice in this project; the data sumitted to EPA were review every season. C. Maintain the monitoring wells 28 monitoring wells were washed by Air Jetting flush and inspected by under water camera. D. monitoring wells action Two new monitoring wells were installed in this project. One was installed in TianXiang gas station and the other was installed in Smile gas station. E. Inspections for polluted sites There were 6 polluted sites in Penghu area, 3 was remediated and inspected for remediation result, and the other 3 were pollution control sites and were still under remediation. F. Emergency response Two miner incidents without pollution happened in this project duration, but one oil pipe leaked at the Chienshan power plant coursed ocean, soil and groundwater pollution. This site was Announced as a pollution control sites and remediation plane was proposed, reviewed and passed by Penghu EPB committee.
